Gardening Committee, 2009

The gardens at St Luke’s are progressing well and all the annuals have been planted for the coming Spring season. Once again we will be entering our garden in the Chronicle Garden’s Competition for the Carnival of Flowers. We have indeed been very blessed with the recent rain which not only gave all the plants a kick start but also replenished our water tanks.

We have also been busy constructing a plant nursery at the back of the parish centre for the plant stall at Carnival time. This has been a major undertaking and thanks to David and Dorothy Gwynne’s continued efforts we are making some progress on the gardens at the back of the Parish Centre also.

Monthly working bees continue to be and source of marvellous fellowship where we come together and share good laughs, manage to achieve some constructive work, as well as having the mandatory morning tea. We look forward to welcoming the thousands of visitors to the grounds when they pass through for the Carnival of Flowers.

We are always in need of pots for planting. These can be left at the Parish Office and would be gratefully received.
